Scoring
I've noticed a certain someone has been recently shitposting by down voting a lot of pictures, namely the 2hu stuff. While I don't care one way or the other for the series, I can't exactly say I approve of people screwing around like that. I'm fine if furry stuff is hidden, but I don't particularly like seeing harmless images being hidden like that. Granted, I know you can adjust the score value for when it gets hidden, but it's clear that someone is being a little obnoxious for whatever reason.

People can already filter shit they personally do not like through blacklisting tags, and that is also a practice that encourages proper tagging, even for things you don't like.
Especially for things you don't like, even.

As for scoring, I don't see it as having much use here, really.

I read a UX Design article the other day that suggested scoring/like/dislike buttons dumb places that have them down, and put forward that if you like something, you should just say you like it/explain why - and if you dislike something, do the same.

A like/dislike or scoring button just encourages people to mindlessly give a proverbial (or sometimes literal) thumbs up or down and then wash their hands of the entire experience without saying a single helpful thing.

This all said, I'm not even sure it can be disabled here.

The main problem is that a lot of people consider this booru to be exclusively for the /v/ drawthreads or touhou is /jp/.

I also read it's because the guy who uploads all these pics doesn't bother tagging them most of the time.

Yea, it really is useless, especially since we're not a bunch of ego rubbing faggots like the ones on Danbooru where we "judge" the art posted there, along with the anons.

Eh, if it's got video games, it's related enough. And while I can understand the lack of tagging being an annoyance, that doesn't really give this shitposter leeway to just downvote the shit like autistic sperg.

it's my fault for not tagging them when i should have. But still, the pics were gotten from the touhou netplay threads on /v/, and touhou is vidya. I don't get why would people get worked up with this so much to score them so low.

Honestly I don't see the need for hiding images when they are below a certain score threshold at all. I mean, with boorus with a bigger userbase, it works a bit better since users will actually upvote images they like, whereas with vidyart, images rarely exit the -3/+5 range; outside downvote bombing... just look at some of the images tagged with toriel (no big loss imho, but still).

Hiding them is just sort of a sucky thing to do, when apart from some really butthurt anons people rarely vote on them to begin with. If you don't like something, just filter it.

To be fair, some people just want to hide shit they don't want to see. But yea, downvoting stuff is just a dickish way to accomplish that. If you don't like a certain subject, just mark in the blacklist and that shit won't appear.
